Behind the Stoke
June 22nd 2017 was a day that changed my life forever. After many shipping delays, my Onewheel+™ finally arrived.
I had been mulling over the idea of getting a Onewheel™ ever since I saw the original Kickstarter campaign, but I never pulled the trigger. It wasn’t until after life had kicked me in the ass a few times that I decided to do something for myself and purchase this “toy” I had been drooling over for some time.
My first ride was incredible, terrifying at times, but just incredible. I noticed that I was grinning ear to ear and thinking of nothing else other than what was right in front of me. I was “in the zone”, and the “stoke” was real.
My life improved in countless ways! I lost weight, my overall depression and anxiety levels drastically dropped and were nonexistent while I was riding. I could open my front door and shred the streets, cruise on the beach, or hit trails at breakneck speeds. My city opened to me like never before, as if I had been seeing it through a different lens until now.
This stoked feeling is what saved my life. The idea of the Stoke Saver was born.
I joined a small FB group called “Onewheel San Diego Riders” and quickly made friends with people from all walks of life. The one thing that connected us was that we all shared the stoke. That was and IS all that matters. I have met some of the coolest, most genuine, loving and generous people that really care about each other. It is great to feel part of something special, and our Onewheel™ communities are just that.
This is more than just a hobby or a sport, this is a lifestyle. Everyone who loves their Onewheel™ can attest to the fact that their life is just that much more awesome because they own a Onewheel™.
I created this bracelet to remind me that I am part of something special and that my life is awesome. I wear this bracelet with pride and share the message of the stoke whenever I can.
